The NTN Innovation Booster program, which is financed by Innosuisse, is designed to foster a culture of open innovation. Its goal is to promote collaborations between research, businesses, and society by encouraging partnerships on various promising themes. In doing so, each Innovation Booster contributes to the creation of economic and social value for Switzerland.
To participate in the program, an Innovation Booster selects an innovation topic and develops it through interdisciplinary innovation teams. The Booster then launches calls for innovative ideas on its theme and teaches the teams design thinking and agile development methods. These calls are made through events and on the Booster's digital platform.
A selection process organized by the Booster allows it to financially support the teams that bring promising innovation ideas. The selected teams can use these funds to test their hypotheses and verify their feasibility. The Booster thus helps the selected innovation teams launch projects for which they can then request support from Innosuisse or other public and private organizations.
Over the course of its four-year operation, an Innovation Booster supports about 45 ideas with an average budget of CHF 22,000 per team.
